Polyester staple fiber is a kind of chemical fiber. The length of the fiber is about 38mm, and the fineness is 1.5D. According to the chemical composition, the chemical fiber is divided into polyester, acrylic, chloramide, spandex, vinylon, polypropylene, arylon and so on. In terms of morphology, it is divided into filament, medium and long fiber (generally 64mm in length) and short fiber (38mm in most). Polyester staple fibers can be spun separately or blended with cotton and other cotton fibers or staple fibers into yarn.

What is polyester staple fiber?

Generally speaking, polyester staple fibercan be divided into three categories: large/medium/small chemical fiber;

Large chemical fiber: This is a polyester staple fiber made from melt direct spinning or PET slice spinning. It is characterized by bright color and strong stability of the fabric, and relatively few fabric defects.

Medium chemical fiber: It is different from large chemical fiber. It does not use direct melt spinning process but is spun by PET slice or PET recycle. The price and quality of medium chemical fiber are between large chemical fiber and small chemical fiber. Some factories churn out such fibers to ensure quality and save costs.

Small fiber: it will only use PET recycling spinning process, and the price and quality are relatively low, often used in the production of fabrics that do not have high quality requirements of cloth or accessories (filler).

PET slice spinning is mentioned above. The short fibers made by this process are generally without defects, and the fiber thickness is relatively uniform. The fabric feels smooth and soft, and the strength is also very good. The small chemical fiber of polyester staple fiber is not produced in this way, so its various physical indexes are not only medium chemical fiber and large chemical fiber.
